Simple Pilau Recipe #coastaldish

I love Pilau. A.Lot. I always find ways to cook my favorite dishes in simple ways that require few ingredients and take the littlest amount of time. So this is my very simplified Pilau recipe, a coastal dish that I have loved for the longest time. I'm sure my coastal buddies will have my head, but sometimes you just want to quench that craving without having to roast and pound spices! So what do you think?

Gather all your ingredients in one place for easier cooking

Heat a deep bottomed pan, add onions, vegetable oil

Cook the onions until they start to turn dark brown
- 4
Add in salt

Add in the ground Pilau Marsala
- 6
Pour water into the pan once the spice mixture has cooked for a few minutes

Meanwhile wash the rice until clear water runs through it
- 8
Once the water has boiled add in the rice
- 9
Cook the rice on high heat uncovered for several minutes
- 10
Once the water has reduced to below the rice turn down to medium heat and cover with a lid

Simmer the rice on low heat, fluff the rice with a fork, cover again and let it slowly cook

Cook the Pilau until all the water has completely dissolved. You can taste and if you feel that the rice is still a bit hard, do not add water. Take off the heat, keep the cover on and the steam will finish the cooking process for you

Serve your simple Pilau with your favorite stew, vegetables or even just eat it plain. Yummy!
