Ingredients

20 minutes
4 persons
  • ● For making Kofta:-
  • 4 piecesSuran(elephant foot)
  • 1 tbspCumin seeds(jeera)
  • 3 tbspBesan
  • Ginger-garlic paste:-as per taste
  • Salt:-as per taste
  • 1 tbspRed chilly powder
  • 1 tbspCoriander powder
  • 1/2 tbspTurmeric powder
  • pinchGaram masala
  • ●For making gravy:-
  • 3 onionsOnions(sliced):-
  • 4 piecesTomato puree
  • 1/2 tbspTurmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbspCoriander powder
  • 1 tbspRed chilly powder
  • Salt:- as per taste
  • 1 tbspGarlic-ginger paste
  • 2 tbspGreen chillies(finely chopped)
  • 2 glassesWater
  • 3 tbspOil:-
  • 2 piecesBay leaves

Steps

    ●For making kofta:-

    Peel and grate suran and wash it nicely under running water(cover ur hands or wear gloves while grating suran to avoid itching).

  3. 3

    Drain the excess water from suran by taking a small portion and pressing it between your hands.check there is no excess water inorder to avoid breaking of koftas.

  4. 4

    Take suran in a big bowl.add all the ingredients given above for making kofta.

  5. 5

    Make small balls of the mixture and deep fry the balls till golden in colour and crispy.
    Keep aside.

    ●For making gravy:-

    Cut onion into slices and deep fry till golden brown in colour. Let it cool.

  8. 8

    After cooling, add onion in a mixer jar. Add tomato puree, jeera and blend finely.

  9. 9

    Take a cooker,add oil, add bay leaf and pour the ready mixture and cook till raw smell goes and oil gets separated.

  10. 10

    Add spices and garlic-ginger paste.

  11. 11

    Adjust salt as per taste.

  12. 12

    Add water to the gravy to avoid burning of spices.

  13. 13

    Cover the lid and wait for 2 whistles.
    Add ready koftas and just mix.

    Do not add koftas while whistles else it will break and become soggy.

  15. 15

    Garnish with green coriander leaves and enjoy.

  16. 16

    Best served with roti or naan.
