Barley moongdal sweet dish or payasa or pongal

Roast barley with one tsp ghee. Roast moong dal with one tsp ghee. Boil barley and moong dal in a cooker. (4 whistles for barley and 2 whistles for moong dal).

Allow it to a cool. Make powder of cardamom and cloves & keep it aside.

Heat two tsp ghee in a pan & add boiled barley and moong dal & stir it well. Then add jaggery powder and half cup water. Add fresh grated coconut powder and poppy seeds. Boil it for ten minutes.(If you want you can add water.) Then off the gas stove. Add powdered cardamom and cloves for flavour. Serve hot.
