Shred cabbage and onion, pour sugar over and set aside

Mix final six ingredients together in pot, bring to a boil and pour over cabbage mixture. Mix well, cool, and refrigerate.

Note: I substitute 2 or 3 bags of pre-shredded slaw mix for the cabbage.
