Ingredients

20 minutes
2 servings
  1. 1 bunchSpring onions
  2. 1/2 teaspoonsalt or to taste
  3. 2medium potatoes boiled and cubed
  4. For the masala powder
  5. 1 teaspoonchana dal powder
  6. 1/2 teaspoonurad dal powder
  7. 2 tablespoonsGrated coconut
  8. 1 teaspoonKashmiri Red Chilli powder
  9. 2 teaspoonOil
  10. 6curry leaves
  11. 1/4th teaspoon cumin seeds
  12. 1 teaspoonMustard seeds

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Wash the spring onions along with leaves.

  2. 2

    Trim the ends of the leaves and chop them into 1/2 inch pieces. Then chop the onions into cubes.

  3. 3

    Heat a pan and roast the gram dal and urad dal powder, cocount and red chilli powder for 2 minutes until aroma is released.

    Heat oil in a pan and add mustard and cumin seeds and curry leaves. Once the seeds splutter add the chopped spring onions & leaves along with salt.

    Sauté for 2 minutes until the onion is translucent.

    Add boiled and cubed potatoes and stir for 2 minutes.

    Now add the coconut masala powder and stir well and fry for 2 minutes.

    Hot Spring onion Poriyal is ready to serve.

    Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot with rice or chapati
