Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1-1/2 lbSerloin Steak
  • 1 tspCrushed Garlic
  • 1/2 tspcrushed ginger
  • 1 Stalksgreen spring onion chopped
  • 1small onion
  • 1 tblsHoisin sauce
  • 3/4 cupHoney
  • 1 tblsroasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tblsroasted sesame seeds oil
  • 1/2 tblsrice wine vinegar
  • 1 tblsveg oil

Steps

  1. 1

    Slice the steak into 1 cm wide strips and place it in a bowl. (If your steak is more than 1 cm thick, cut the strips in half again length-wise)

    In a food processor, blitz the onion, garlic and ginger until it is a paste. (If you do not have a food processor, you can grate them or chop it very finely by hand, just make sure the ginger bits are very tiny)

    Add the marinade and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce to the beef and mix well and marinade it in the fridge for 1 hour (or 20-30 minutes in room temperature)

    After 10 minutes, repeat the same process and dust 1/2 cup of corn starch on the beef again to lightly re-coat the beef.

  5. 5

    Using a heavy bottom pot (or wok) set the temperature of the oil to 375F (191C) (or medium heat) and add at least 1 inch of oil and wait for it to get hot.

  6. 6

    Using your fingers separate the beef if they are clumped together and deep fry it in the oil in small batches (make sure the oil is hot but not smoking – to test if the oil is hot enough, add 1 small piece of beef first and see if it instantly sizzles)

  7. 7

    Deep fry the beef for 1-2 minutes, and remove it from the pot onto a plate with paper towel or newspaper to sop up some of the oil

  8. 8

    Once all the beef has been cooked once (first fry), add all of it back in for the second deep fry for 1 more minute.

  9. 9

    Add to a serving dish and sprinkle spring onion over the Top. Also the sesame seeds

Cookpad founder Member Ambassador, Also a Cookaholic.I love this Cookpad Site, Recipes, friends, interesting people and outstanding recipes, and able to see and to taste food from all over the world. i have learned so much more here, spices , herbs and lovely recipes of different cultures. also experimenting mixing different herbs and spices and making my own creations .I have cooked for my family since I was 14yrs, home from school as my Grandmother could no longer cook she was 91yrs, my Dad worked and there was only me so I learned quite quick and have always enjoyed it. I only started experimenting with herbs and spices and items I had never heard of before through joining Cookpad 2014 and I'm still learning new things. It is a passion of mine and I always invite my family around so I can create something new for them to try. my children grew up learning lots from me I have 3 daughters all with their own families and two Sons one who cooks for his family also my youngest son who is still at home with me,he comes up with some lovely meals and ideas so I'm proud of them all. 💜
