Baked American Cake Donuts
This is the second recipe I promised to share. I got this recipe from the American lady I mentioned in the first yeast donut recipe. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you! 😊
Baked American Cake Donuts
This is the second recipe I promised to share. I got this recipe from the American lady I mentioned in the first yeast donut recipe. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you! 😊
Steps
- 1
Beat the eggs with the sugar until the mixture is thick and pale yellow, about 5 minutes.
- 2
The mixture should be thick in texture.
- 3
Add the vanilla extract and beat well.
- 4
Add the baking powder to the flour.
- 5
Add the salt and nutmeg (optional) and mix well.
- 6
Prepare the milk and warm melted butter.
- 7
Add the flour in three parts, alternating with half the milk and half the butter, mixing well after each addition until combined. (Here, add part of the flour, milk, and butter.)
- 8
After mixing the first part well.
- 9
Add the second portion of the ingredients.
- 10
Add the last portion of flour and fold in gently with a spatula or wooden spoon.
- 11
The dough will be slightly sticky. Cover it with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 20 to 30 minutes.
- 12
Lightly flour your work surface. The dough should be less sticky now. Sprinkle a little flour on top and roll it out to about 3/8 inch thick (1 cm).
- 13
Cut the dough into donut shapes.
- 14
Place the donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 15
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 14 to 16 minutes, until the bottoms are golden and the tops have risen slightly. (If using Fahrenheit, bake at 300°F (150°C).)
- 16
For the topping, mix 1 cup sugar with 3 tablespoons cinnamon in a bowl. In another bowl, place 2 tablespoons melted butter.
- 17
After mixing the sugar and cinnamon, it should look like this.
- 18
Brush the tops of the donuts with melted butter.
- 19
Dip the donuts into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- 20
This is how they should look when finished.
- 21
Serve with tea and enjoy!
- 22
Note: Baked donuts are a little different in taste and texture from fried donuts, but both methods are delicious and irresistible.
- 23
Sorry for the long explanation, but I wanted to make the steps clear! 😅
