Ingredients

4 servings
  • Baati :
  • 2 cup wheat flour
  • 1/4 cupghee
  • Salt as per taste
  • as neededWater
  • 2 tbsp tovar dal
  • For Dal :
  • 2 tbspsplit black lentils (urad dal)
  • 2 tbspsplit bengal gram(chanadal)
  • 2 tbspmasoor dal
  • 1/2 cupsplit green gram with skin
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric
  • to tasteSalt
  • For Dal tempering :
  • 2 tbspghee
  • 1/2 tbspcumin (jeera)
  • 1 pinchasafoetida
  • 1 tbspgarlic chopped
  • 1/2 cuponion chopped
  • 1/2 cuptomatoes chopped
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  • 2 tspred chilli powder
  • 1green chilli chopped
  • 1 tbspcoriander powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 tbspcoriander leaves
  • For churma :
  • 2 tbspghee
  • 2baati crushed into coarse powder
  • 2 tbspalmond chopped
  • 3cardmom pods
  • 3 tbsppowdered sugar (or as per ur taste)

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak all dals for 30 mins

  2. 2

    Wash & drain dals and keep aside

  3. 3

    In a cooker, Add all dals,turmeric, salt and enough water & give 2 whistles

  4. 4

    After 2 whistle switch off the flame

    For tempering dal : Heat a wok add ghee and once the ghee heats, add garlic, asafoetida, saute then for few seconds.add onions add saute till raw smell goes away.

    Next add green chilles, red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder, salt and give it a mix

  7. 7

    Add tomatoes, boiled dals mix well then add coriander leaves, give it a stir and ur dal is ready

  8. 8

    For Baati : In a bowl add wheat flour, salt, melted ghee

  9. 9

    Mix them nicely till the texture of flour resembles bread crumbs

  10. 10

    Add little water & knead it into a stiff dough

  11. 11

    Once the dough is ready divide it into portions.

    Make cross sign on the dough ball and next step is to bring it together

    Tip : do nt press it too hard or leave it loose

    Bake the baatis in gas burner, keep flipping them & ensure they don't burn

  15. 15

    Churma : crush few baatis and transfer them in a grinder jar, crush it into coarse powder

  16. 16

    Heat a pan add ghee, cardmom pods, chopped almonds

  17. 17

    Saute them till it's nice and fragrant

  18. 18

    Ensure thtthey do not change colour

  19. 19

    After few seconds add crushed baatis

  20. 20

    Saute them on medium flame for 5 mins & transfer them it into bowl

    Allow mixture to cool down

    And then add powdered sugar. Mix well

    Pour hot dal & ghee over the baatis

    Serve hot with churma
