Ingredients

  1. 100 gRohu Fish Eggs
  2. 125 gFlour
  3. 1large chopped onion
  4. 1/2 inchginger chopped
  5. 1/4 cupchopped coriander
  6. 1 TSPbaking powder
  7. 1 TSPsalt
  8. 3green chillies finely chopped
  9. 200 mlsunflower oil
  10. 1onion sliced finely
  11. 1/2 inchginger chopped
  12. 1/2 inchcinnamon
  13. 4cardamom
  14. 3cloves
  15. 1bay leaf
  16. 1/2 TSPturmeric
  17. 11/2 TSPcoriander powder
  18. 2 TSPcumin powder
  19. 1/2 TSPred chilli powder
  20. 1 cupwater
  21. 2 TSPsugar
  22. to tasteSalt
  23. Chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash the fish egg in boiling salt water

  2. 2

    Mix the first eight ingredients until tiny sticky balls can be formed. More flour can be added

  3. 3

    Heat the oil and drop the fish egg batter in small balls and fry till golden brown.

  4. 4

    Strain from oil.

  5. 5

    Temper the already hot oil with the next six ingredients and fry the onion till golden brown and fragrant.

  6. 6

    Add the powdered spices and a little bit of water to cook the spices. Add salt and sugar.

  7. 7

    Once the oil starts to separate from the water add the fried dumplings and more water.

  8. 8

    Cook at medium heat till the dumplings are soft and moist and the gravy a little thick.

  9. 9

    Take off the heat and garnish with chopped coriander.

  10. 10

    Serve hot with steamed rice.
