Ingredients

8 servings
  • 1 poundground beef
  • 1 poundground pork
  • 4medium onions, chopped
  • 6garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cans (16 ounces)each) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (28 oz)can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cupwhite vinegar
  • 1/4 cupbaking cocoa
  • 2 tablespoonschili powder
  • 2 tablespoonsWorcestershire sauce
  • 4 teaspoonsground cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoonsdried oregano
  • 2 teaspoonsground cumin
  • 2 teaspoonsground allspice
  • 2 teaspoonshot pepper sauce
  • 3bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoonsugar
  • to tasteSalt and pepper
  • Hot cooked spaghetti
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Sour Cream
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • Chopped Green Onions

Steps

  1. 1

    In a Dutch oven, cook beef, pork and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Drain

  2. 2

    Add the beans, tomatoes, vinegar, cocoa and seasonings; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for one and a half hours or until heated through.

  3. 3

    Discard bay leaves. Serve with spaghetti. Garnish with cheese, sour cream, tomatoes and onions.
