Tasty Plum Popsicles

Fruit of the season is the scarlet red plum and I made Tasty Plum Popsicles with this scarlet red fruit. This small ruby coloured orb is sweet-sour and packs a punch. Firstly, a handful of plums a day give you carbs, protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and proteins to keep you healthy. Secondly, Plums are rich in vitamin Ke that is good for kids as it helps in building healthy bones and finally they are loaded with Vitamin-A which is great for a strong vision. Along with these benefits, it is also good for the digestive system too.
While driving, for instance, I saw many cart vendors selling plums and I wondered what I could make with them and I struck upon the idea of a Juicy Plum Mojito and then made Plum popsicles I have made Mango and Jamun popsicles then why not with plums. I set out to make the Popsicles wondering how it would taste and I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out just perfect.
The store bought lollies are of course much better in taste but homemade ice-lollies are healthier. The Popsicle industry has huge machines where the lollies are flash-frozen in seconds at very low temperatures. Whereas our home freezers are slow and the taste can vary on the outside and the inside. But seriously, does anyone think of all this while licking a popsicle at home?

Steps

20 mins
  1. 1

First, wash the plums, pit and chop them. Then boil the water and add the chopped plums. Boil for 5 minutes or until the plums are soft.
Take the boiled plums and drop them in a food processor. Strain the juice. Add the lemon juice, powdered sugar, cumin powder, black salt and stir. Subsequently, you can add less or more water according to your taste. Muddle some mint leaves and add to the juice.

  2. 2

Usually, Plums can be sour so I grated one apple and extracted the juice by squeezing it through a muslin cloth. Mix the plum and apple juice and pour into Popsicle moulds and set in the fridge overnight. I used kulfi moulds with ice-cream sticks.
If you do not have Popsicle moulds it's ok. In fact, you can use disposable paper or plastic cups, which are a good option.

  3. 3

These Tasty Plum Popsicles or ice lollies are refreshing in summer and great for ladies parties as it looks striking and elegant and has a totally different tang with the black salt.
