Cheese buttons

My mom made these mostly during Lent. On at least one Friday when meat wasn’t allowed to be eaten. My kids love them as much as I do. Hope you enjoy them as well.

My mom made these mostly during Lent. On at least one Friday when meat wasn’t allowed to be eaten. My kids love them as much as I do. Hope you enjoy them as well.
Steps
- 1
Mix the dough first, until it's not sticky. (You may need to add flour)Let rest, mix stuffing.
- 2
Roll dough out with a rolling pin, until it's 1/4 thick. Use a glass to make cut out circles. Lift unused dough and place back in bowl. Brush water lightly on top of circles. Do 3-4 at a time.
Lift and stretch dough out. Be sure not to make any holes in the dough. - 3
Put 1/2 tablespoon of filling into dough. Fold edges of dough to make a half moon. Press edges together so insides can't come out.
- 4
If your the only one making them, make them all. Lay them on top of parchment paper, not touching.
- 5
Place 2-3 in soft boiling water until they float.
- 6
Take out of the water. Let dry for a minute, and place in frying pan with 2sticks of melted butter. Fry both sides until they are browned. Place on a cookie sheet or plate and Lightly salt the tops. Put in oven to keep warm until all are cooked. Enjoy!
