Classic Crispy Clove Nastar by Mrs. Liem

This recipe has been used for the past few years every Chinese New Year in my house :)
So, my mom asked me to keep using this recipe so the taste remains familiar to the rest of the family.. haha
Usually, it's not me who makes it, but my mom.. this year it's my turn.. because mom is tired, she's getting older, and making nastar is exhausting, especially since she also cooks several other dishes..
I made about 350 pieces to fill the jars, from 11 AM to 4 PM.. haha.. with some snacking in between (it takes 5 hours to make, but it will disappear in less than an hour!)
My oven is very small.. so I had to bake in batches.. haha.. when will I have a big oven?
And there was an accident with one tray that got burnt.. oh well, I'll just eat it myself.. it still tastes good, just looks bad.
In Chinese New Year beliefs, these round, bright yellow, and sweet nastar symbolize sweet blessings and prosperity, especially if they are filled with lots of jam, which is believed to bring more blessings :) amen!!!
Let's get to the recipe!

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Beat the butter, margarine, sugar, and eggs together until pale and fluffy.
- 2
Add the sifted flour and milk powder mixture, then mix with a spatula until well combined. The dough is ready to use :)
- 3
Take a small amount of dough, flatten it, fill with pineapple jam, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (I used a non-stick baking sheet).
- 4
Pierce each ball with a clove, then bake for 15 minutes at 320°F (160°C).
- 5
Remove from the oven and brush with egg yolk.
- 6
Bake again until fully cooked, about another 15 minutes at 300°F (150°C). (Oven temperatures may vary, adjust accordingly.)
- 7
Tadaaa, the result is crispy yet soft :)
It's sturdier but not dense.. haha
It's all about personal preference. - 8
My back and neck are sore from rolling about 350 pieces of nastar by myself.. haha.. but it's worth it :D
- 9
In my family, for Chinese New Year, nastar cookies must be homemade, not store-bought.. haha..
- 10
The aroma is nostalgic :)
It takes a long time to make but is eaten quickly.. haha - 11
Hmm.. the aroma of homemade nastar is different from store-bought, the butter, margarine, and milk smell stronger and fresher.. compared to those that have been in jars for months.. ;)

English Digestives (Cut into Fish Biscuits!) English Digestives (Cut into Fish Biscuits!)
I saw this recipe on the King Arthur Flour website and wanted to try it. I modified the ingredients and steps a little. My three year old daughter currently loves “The Octonauts,” and the show’s characters like to eat “Fish Biscuits” that are shaped like fish (obviously!). So, this was a good opportunity to try something new and to make a special treat for her that wasn’t overly sweet. Chris Gan -
Placek (Polish Yeasted Coffeecake with Crumb Topping) 🇵🇱 Placek (Polish Yeasted Coffeecake with Crumb Topping) 🇵🇱
“Placek” in Polish means cake, but in regions with a large Polish-American community (like Western New York, where I grew up), it specifically refers to a coffeecake-like bread with a sweet crumble topping. Placek is a popular Easter tradition, but my Polish-American grandmother made it year round (mostly because her husband, all of their kids and all of the grandkids LOVED it). I was privileged to learn how to make it when she was still alive. This year is the 10th anniversary of her passing. Every time I make this recipe, I think of her.#Holiday #Christmas #Easter #Coffeecake #Traditional #KeepRecipesAlive Chris Gan -
Christmas Cookie House Christmas Cookie House
About 3 years ago, I saw a small cookie house on sale at a neighborhood French pastry shop for more than 3,000 yen, so I tried making my own.Since then, my child has been looking forward to making one every year, so this year I decided to make it again although I'm fighting morning sickness (I'm pregnant with my 2nd child) .Use leftover icing (that you used to stick the house together) to make icicles hang under the roof, or make snow drifts around the decorative pieces on the outside, and so on. I have fun varying the decoration every year.I used store-bought candies as decoration. Even small children love to look at the decorations. This year I glued a brick patterned chimney, and colored the exterior walls with red food coloring to color it slightly pink. I also made the tree 3D. Recipe by sakura'03 cookpad.japan -

Seriously Delicious Microwave Cooked Custard Cream Seriously Delicious Microwave Cooked Custard Cream
My mother has been making this recipe for a long long time. I've tried many others, but this is the one that works the best. My family guarantees it.In Step 6, the cream will become very thick after it is microwaved, so mix it up very well so that it has an even consistency. If you do that the rest is guaranteed to succeed. I don't add a lot of sugar to this to suit my family's tastes, so please adjust the sugar if needed. Recipe by Wagamamahime cookpad.japan -

Basic American-Style Cupcakes Basic American-Style Cupcakes
I searched through American cookbooks to make refreshments for my child's school functions and for parties. The standard recipe is probably a little bit too sweet for Japanese people, so I adjusted the ingredients.Use a measuring spoon to measure the ingredients. The baking time varies depending on each household's oven, so adjust accordingly. I bake mine for 23 minutes. I used American cupcakes as a reference for this recipe, so they might be too sweet. But even if you decrease the sugar amount, they're still moist. For 9 cm [3.5 in] x 4 cm = 12-16 cupcakes/7 cm x 3 cm = 25-32 cupcakes. Recipe by Du-ma cookpad.japan
