Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupsplit black gram (urad dal)
  2. 1/2 cupsplit chickpea lentils (chana dal)
  3. 1onion, finely chopped
  4. 1small piece of ginger, finely chopped
  5. 4-5 clovesgarlic, finely chopped
  6. 2tomatoes, pureed
  7. Salt to taste
  8. 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder
  9. 1/2 teaspoonred chili powder
  10. 1/2 teaspoongaram masala
  11. 2 tablespoonsbutter

Steps

  1. 1

    First, mix both lentils and wash them thoroughly.

  2. 2

    Now take a pressure cooker, add the lentils, 4 cups of water, salt, and turmeric. Cook until two whistles, then let it simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes.

  3. 3

    In a pan, add butter, then sauté ginger, garlic, and onion until well browned.

  4. 4

    Add the tomato puree and all the dry spices, sauté well, and then add this mixture to the cooked lentils. Mix thoroughly.

  5. 5

    Your Maa Chole Di Dal is ready. Serve hot with layered parathas.
