Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupsemolina
  2. 1/2 cupghee
  3. 1/2 cupsugar
  4. 1/2 cupmilk powder
  5. 1 cupmilk
  6. 1 cupkhoya
  7. Chopped dried fruits
  8. 1 teaspooncardamom powder

Steps

  1. 1

    Take 3 teaspoon sugar and keep aside. With the rest of the sugar add milk powder and mix thoroughly. In a pan add 1/2 cup ghee and 1/2 cup semolina and roast until golden brown. It will take about 8 to 10 minutes on medium heat. Keep stirring and once brown in colour add the 3 teaspoon sugar whilst stirring until it is caramelised.

    Add the sugar and milk powder and mix well. Turn the gas off and mix well. Once mixed turn the gas on and add the milk while stirring continuously. Once mixed add grated khoya and mix well. Continue to cook while stirring until ghee leaves sides. Add cardamom and dry fruits and mix well. Transfer in a greased tray and garnish with nuts. Let it set for about two hours. Cut into long rectangle shape.

Hi all, my name is Rekha. I am Indian by birth, born in Uganda, East Africa, I now live in Wilby, Northamptonshire/England.I retired at the age of 60 due to severe arthritis. I am married, a mother and grandmother.I learnt to cook from my parents at a very young age of seven. I started to cook simple dishes for the family and gradually learnt how to cook. My mum use to cook at our shop where we sold Indian sweets and savouries. I have learnt a lot from my mum. I started cooking fusion dishes and learning from others. My strong point is making sweet dishes and innovating new dishes. I can improvise and be creative in leftover dishes.I love being on Cookpad because I can share and learn new recipes. I have also made a lot of friends.
