Ingredients

  1. 10small potatoes
  2. 3medium sized onions
  3. 2-3 tbspshredded coconut
  4. 1small piece of ginger
  5. 4-5green chillies
  6. 1/2 cupyoghurt
  7. 1 tspgaram masala powder
  8. 1 tbsppoppy seeds
  9. 2 1/2 tspcoriander powder
  10. 1/2 tspcumin powder
  11. 1 tbspred chilli powder
  12. 1 tbspchopped coriander leaves
  13. to tasteSalt
  14. Oil for deep frying the potatoes
  15. 2 tbspcooking oil

Steps

  1. 1

    Boil the potatoes and peel them

  2. 2

    Fry the potatoes in hot oil till they turn slightly brown

  3. 3

    Heat oil in a shallow pan and fry the onions to light brown

  4. 4

    Grind the coconut,poppy seeds,ginger and green chillies to a paste

  5. 5

    Add the paste to the onions,fry till the oil separates

  6. 6

    Add chilli powder,cumin powder and dhania powder and stir fry for 5mins

  7. 7

    Add the yoghurt,salt and the fried potatoes

  8. 8

    Add enough water to cover the potatoes and simmer till the gravy is thick for about 10mins

  9. 9

    Now add the garam masala powder and mix well

  10. 10

    Garnish with the chopped coriander leaves
