Gluhwein Jelly

A super easy recipe and a nice little present for guests or when invited. I like Glühwein al lot and this is a good way to not only drink it hot after dark but to also have it as a spread or with a Christmassy pancake.
Contains alcohol!
Gluhwein Jelly
A super easy recipe and a nice little present for guests or when invited. I like Glühwein al lot and this is a good way to not only drink it hot after dark but to also have it as a spread or with a Christmassy pancake.
Contains alcohol!
Steps
- 1
Cut vanilla pods open. Wash orange cut in slices.
- 2
Sterilize the jam jars by cooking them in a pot or in a dish washer (baby food program) or fill with boiling water. Empty the glasses after 10 min (caution jars are very, very hot - like from boiling water ;) ).
- 3
Bring red wine to a boil and put in all spices (vanilla, cinnamon, orange zests, star anise, cloves, cardamom) and let simmer for 10 min so the alcohol evaporates. (You can prepare this step in advance.) Strain the Glühwein and remove spices.
- 4
Then add canning sugar, bring to a boil again and cook for 4 min.
- 5
Fill the jars with the hot jelly, secure, and turn upside down. Let stand on the lid for 10 - 15 min. Then turn again to create a vacuum in the jar. With a bow it becomes a nice little present.
- 6
Enjoy as spread, with pancakes or with meat.
