Ingredients

  • 1/3 cuptoor dal
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 1 cupchopped mixed veggies
  • 1/2mustard seeds
  • 5-6curry leaves
  • 1-2dry chillies
  • 1medium onion chopped
  • 1 tsp sambhar powfer
  • 1/2 tspseedless tamarind
  • 1tomato chopped
  • 1 tspoil
  • 1 cupwater
  • 1 tsp finely chopped coriander lvs
  • to tasteSalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare Tamarind Juice – soak 1/2 tablespoon tamarind in 3-tablespoons of hot water for 10-15 minutes, mash it with a spoon and strain it using a sieve and discard the solids.

    Add toor dal, turmeric powder and 1 cup water in 3-4 liters capacity steel or aluminum pressure cooker. Add mixed vegetables in a small container, place it inside the pressure cooker and close the cooker lid. Pressure cook over medium flame for 3-4 whistles. For this recipe we used 1/4 cup potato, 1/4 cup brinjal, 1/4 cup carrot and 1/4 cup French beans as mixed vegetables.

    Heat 1 tblspn oil in a pan over medium flame add mustard seeds add curry leaves dry red chillies for 15 minutes cook it

    Add chopped onion

    Add tamarind and cook for 2 min

  6. 6

    Add tomatoes and sambhar powder cook for minute Add mashed veggies water amd salt

  7. 7

    Boil for 7 minutes
