Sift your flour in a bowl

Grease your baking tin with some margarine and flour

Preheat your oven at 150°C

In a bowl cream your sugar and margarine until pale and fluffy.

Add one egg at a time and beat continuously.

Add your vanilla essence just one cup or half a teaspoon.

Add half the flour followed by half the milk and mix gently with a spatula.

Add the rest of the flour and milk and mix ensuring no moulds are left. Your batter should be a dropping consistency.

The less heat you cook with, with added time, the less uneven raising at the top and the flatter the cake turns out.

Remove and cool on a wire rack.

Decorate as desired. I have taken a deep liking to stencils.
