Corn Flour Arepas with Chia and Oats!

Easy, practical, and quick! Enjoy them with your favorite filling! Known as "arepas" in Venezuela and Colombia, and as "tortillas" in Panama, these are culturally present around the world thanks to their versatility—you can fill them with anything and eat them any time! (Grilled or fried).
Adding CHIA seeds gives you many health benefits from these tiny, powerful seeds:
They have 5 times more calcium than milk.
They contain 3 times more antioxidants than blueberries.
They have 3 times more iron than spinach.
Twice the fiber of oats.
More than double the protein of any vegetable.
And more potassium than bananas.
****Plus, with OATS, you get even more benefits:
Vitamins B1, B2, B5, B6, and E.
Minerals like potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc.
High-quality protein.

Steps
- 1
Combine the chia seeds and oats with the corn flour or ground corn dough. Stir, then add water and salt. Knead until well mixed.
- 2
Once the dough reaches the desired consistency, form into balls, flatten them, and place on a griddle or skillet.
- 3
Cook over medium heat until done to your liking. Flip after 8 to 10 minutes (depending on the heat). I like to cook them a bit longer so they turn out toasted—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. After cooking, slice them open and fill with your favorite ingredients!
