Ingredients

30 Minutes
2 Persons
  1. 1/2 cupUrad daal(Black gram)
  2. 1 cupRice(double quantity of udad daal)
  3. 1/4 teaspoonFenugreek seed
  4. Water
  5. Salt
  6. 2boiled potatoes
  7. 1 teaspoonchopped green chilli
  8. 1 tablespoonchopped coriander leaves
  9. 1/2 teaspoonMustard seed
  10. 1/2 teaspooncumin seed
  11. Curry-leaves
  12. 1/4 teaspoonturmeric powder
  13. 1/4red chilli powder
  14. Oil

Steps

30 Minutes
  1. 1

    For Uttapam batter-
    Wash and soak udad daal, rice and fenugreek seed in water for 8 hours.

  2. 2

    After 8 hours remove excess water and finely grind.
    Let batter fragment for 10 hours.

    For Masala-
    Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan,splutter mustard seed, cumin seed, add curry leaves,green chilli and saute it.

  4. 4

    Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt, saute it and add boiled potatoes.Cook for 2 minutes then add coriander leaves.

    Add salt in batter and mix well. Take 1 cup batter in a pan, spread a little,add masala in middle.Sprinkle few oil drops around the uttapam.

    Cook both side evenly and serve hot with chutney or shambhar.
