I know it's easy to buy a jar but there is nothing quite like making your own! You can leave out the walnuts if you prefer & if you don't like mixed peel just buy whichever dried fruit you like. There's no cooking apart from toasting the walnuts!

I know it's easy to buy a jar but there is nothing quite like making your own! You can leave out the walnuts if you prefer & if you don't like mixed peel just buy whichever dried fruit you like. There's no cooking apart from toasting the walnuts!

Place the dried fruit into a large bowl & pour over the brandy. Cover with a tea towel & leave to soak overnight or until all the liquid has gone.

Put the walnuts on a baking tray and & place into the oven (140 Fan/160C/Gas3) for about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven & chop finely.

Add the nuts to the fruit along with all the other ingredients & mix well. Pack the mincemeat into a clean jar & keep in the fridge until ready to use.
