Pithla:

Heat the oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, green chilli, curry leaves, turmeric powder, red chilli powder. Mix well. Add water buttermilk(optional) and salt.

As it start boiling add gram flour slowly and stir continuously.

Then cover it with the lid and cook for 5 to 6 minutes.

Remove the lid. When the oil separates from the mixture switch off the gas.

Pithla is ready. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Bhakri:

Take the flour in a mixing bowl. Add salt and hot water. Mix and knead the dough well.

Divide the dough into the equal portion. Dust dry flour on rolling board.

Take a small portion of dough. Pat it and flattened it on rolling board into the round Bhakri.

Heat the tawa on low flame. Place the Bhakri on tawa. Flour dusted side should be upward.

Apply some water on upward side of Bhakri with the finger.

As the water evaporates turn the Bhakri and cook again for two minutes on medium flame.

Now roast the Bhakri directly on both sides over the gas burner.

If you are making the Bhakri on non stick tawa cook the Bhakari on tawa from both side till golden brown spot appear on both sides and it becomes crisp.

Bhakri is ready. Serve it with Pithla.
