This is a very simple cake. Since it doesn't contain any added fat, it turns out extra fluffy.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease the baking pan well.

Separate the egg whites from the yolks.

Add the pinch of salt to the egg whites and start beating. When they turn white and foamy, add half of the sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, add the milk, the remaining sugar, and the vanilla to the egg yolks. Mix until combined.

Sift the flour and baking powder into the yolk mixture. Beat until you have a smooth batter.

Gently fold in the egg whites.

Add the chocolate chips and mix.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake at 350°F (180°C) for 40 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Then remove it from the pan.

Decorate as you like. I used a simple stencil and powdered sugar.
