Ingredients

  1. For the marinade:
  2. 2boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  3. 2 clovesgarlic, minced
  4. 1yellow onion, grated
  5. 2 podscardamom, toasted and finely crushed
  6. 3whole cloves, toasted and finely crushed
  7. 1/2 teaspoonchicken seasoning
  8. 1/2 teaspoongarlic powder
  9. Pinchcumin
  10. Pinchwhite pepper
  11. Pinchturmeric
  12. Pinchpaprika
  13. 1 cupplain yogurt (about 240 ml)
  14. Juice of 2 lemons
  15. 1/4 cupolive oil (about 60 ml)
  16. Salt, to taste
  17. For the sandwiches:
  18. 3 piecesmarkouk flatbread (or substitute with large thin flatbread)
  19. Sliced pickled cucumbers
  20. French fries
  21. Garlic sauce or toum

Steps

  1. 1

    In a bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients with the chicken. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours, or overnight in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Heat a skillet with a little oil. Sauté the chicken quickly until well browned, then remove from the pan.

  3. 3

    Spread garlic sauce on the markouk bread, then add French fries, pickled cucumbers, and the chicken shawarma. Roll up the sandwich, toast it on a sandwich press or skillet until golden, then slice and serve with extra garlic sauce. Enjoy!
