Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 2 tbsminced onion
  2. 1 lbground chuck
  3. 1large egg slightly beaten
  4. 1/8 tspground white pepper
  5. 5 tbsbutter
  6. 1/2 cupuncooked quick oats
  7. 1 tspsea salt
  8. 1/4to 1/2 tsp caraway seed
  9. 1 can (10 3/4 oz)cream of celery soup

Steps

  1. 1

    Brown onion lightly in butter

  2. 2

    Combine meat, oats, egg, seasonings, and onion until throughly mixed

  3. 3

    With floured hands, shape mixture into approximately 45 1-inch balls

  4. 4

    Fry slowly in butter in a heavy skillet until brown. As browned remove from skillet and set aside

  5. 5

    After all meatballs have been browned add soup and water to skillet drippings stirring until smooth and bubbly

  6. 6

    Return meatballs to skillet stiring slightly to cover meatballs with sauce

  7. 7

    Cover tightly and simmer on low for 20 minutes or until done

  8. 8

    Serve, reheat or freeze for later.
