Ingredients

  • 2 TButter
  • 1/2Onion (diced)
  • 2Celery ribs (diced)
  • 3 ClovesGarlic (sliced)
  • 1 qtChicken Stock
  • 2 1/2 CWater
  • 1 lbDried Split Peas (rinsed)
  • 1 lbHam (cubed)
  • 1Bay Leaf
  • to tasteSalt and Pepper

Steps

  1. 1

    Cook onion, celery, and garlic in butter over med-low heat until onions are translucent (not brown)

  2. 2

    Add remaining ingredients. Stir together. Simmer slowly, stirring occasionally, until peas are tender and soup is thickened (about 1 hour & 15 min)

  3. 3

    Season with salt and pepper to taste.
