Traditional Kerala Dessert/ Snack and one of my all time favourite is Ela Ada. Made with rice coconut and jaggery cooked in banana leaves renders lovely taste

In a bowl, add rice flour and salt. mix well. Gradually add hot water and mix with spoon.Do not add in all water at once. Let it rest for some time

Knead into smooth chapati like dough. Keep it aside

Mix coconut jaggery,cardamom powder in a bowl with hands until well combined and soft

Clean the banana leaves and heat it slightly on both sides directly over the flame so that leaves do not break while folding

Spread 1/2 tsp of coconut oil all over the leaf with the fingers.

Place lemon size dough in the center of the leaf, flatten it with wet fingers like small roti and spread the filling on it.

Gently fold the leaf in half. Tuck the ends of the leaf.

Place the adas in a steamer/idly cooker and steam it for 8- 10 minutes over high heat

Remove the adas from the steamer. Serve warm
