I love a good crisp tender sautéed green bean but this isn’t that. This is old fashioned southern smoky green beans done so easy it’s almost embarrassing. It starts with regular old canned green beans but tastes slow cooked. Make enough for tmrw because it’s better the next day. If you reeeeeally wanna make this southern, add small new potatoes (small red potatoes).

Ingredients

  1. 1 (3 lb)can green beans, undrained
  2. 2 tablespoonsbacon fat
  3. 1 tablespoonminced onion, fresh or dry
  4. to tasteOnion and garlic powder
  5. 1/2 teaspoonsalt
  6. 1 teaspoonpepper
  7. 1 tablespoonsugar

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Empty can in a large pot. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to medium/low and cook with the lid offset and allow the liquid to reduce by half. Stir occasionally.

I have issues with leftovers looking back at me with the same sappy look they had the day before. Can’t do it. My super power is turning what I find in my fridge into something I want to eat. I work so much better under pressure. I live for shortcuts and not having to run to the grocery every day. Work with what you have. Adapt and overcome. Also, the less dishes, bowls, and pots I hafta use, the better. Hope some of these recipes work out for ya!
