Ingredients

  1. 2 1/4 poundsvegetable shortening or (butter) (about 1 kilogram)
  2. 8 cupsall-purpose flour (about 1 kilogram)
  3. 8 cupspowdered sugar (about 1 kilogram)
  4. 2 1/4 poundssliced pecans or (mixed nuts) (about 1 kilogram)
  5. 1 tablespoondesired extract (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients and let the mixture rest for 30 minutes. Then knead the dough and shape small balls with your hands.

  2. 2

    Place the balls on a baking sheet and bake at the lowest oven temperature for 35 minutes. This recipe makes about 80 cookies!

    Let cool, then dust with powdered sugar.
