Njahe is a known dish for any new mothers and guests. Its extremely nutrious when mashed with Bananas for lactating mothers. It goes well with Beef Stew and soft vegetables like Mrenda.

Soak the Njahe overnight. Rinse and boil until soft.

Add in your ripe bananas and let them boil for 10 minutes or so with a little water.

Remove and mash with a Potato masher until soft. Keep it warm until ready to serve.

Boil the beef until soft then add your garlic, Ginger and onions and fry.

Add Tomatoes and continue stirring until they are soft. Add your spices and salt. Let it simmer until you get a heavy soup.

Sort out the Mrenda, wash and boil just for a few minutes.

Wash the sukumawiki and cut into very small pieces.

Add oil in a sufuria and fry your onions until translucent. Add the sukumawiki and fry under low heat.

Remove the Mrenda and pour out any water. Add to your sukumawiki and continue frying. Add some salt to taste. Remove from heat and serve while it's hot.

Serve your Njahe, Beef Stew and Mrenda/sukumawiki.
