Chicken Flautas

My husband and I love flautas. I don’t make them very often because I almost always burn myself with the hot oil when frying them. A friend suggested shredding the chicken breast into large pieces so the filling doesn’t fall out while frying. I have to say, that’s helped a bit, but even so, sometimes the oil still splatters while I’m cooking. Does anyone know how to prevent this? If you have any tips, please let me know!

Steps
- 1
Shred the chicken breast into long strips (so the filling stays inside the flauta).
- 2
Warm the tortillas in the microwave. Assemble the flautas by placing chicken on each tortilla, rolling them up, and securing with a toothpick.
- 3
Heat enough oil for frying. This time I used an electric deep fryer, but you can also use a skillet.
- 4
Fry all the flautas until golden brown. Drain excess oil on paper towels.
- 5
Serve the flautas with avocado salsa and shredded cheese.
- 6
They are truly delicious! I love them!
