Ingredients

  • 1chicken (cut into curry pieces)
  • 1large onion (diced)
  • 1.5 tspGinger Garlic
  • 0.5 tspRed masala
  • 0.75 tspwhole jeero
  • 0.25 cupoil
  • garam masala
  • 2cinnamon sticks
  • 2cloves
  • 4peppercorns
  • 2elachies
  • Spice
  • 1.5 tspsalt
  • 1 tspturmeric
  • 2 tspcoarse jeero
  • 1/4 cupwater
  • 2 tspSuhana chilli powder
  • 2 tspfine coriander powder
  • 2tomatoes (liquidized)
  • 2potatoes cut into quarters
  • Rice*
  • 2 cupsrice
  • 4.5 cupswater
  • 2 tspsalt
  • I tsp turmeric
  • Garnish*
  • Green chilli and fresh coriander

Steps

  1. 1

    Akhni by Aadila Carim❤️

    Braise onion in oil. Add whole jeero and whole garam masala (cinnamon(2), cloves(2), peppercorns(4), elachi(2)) once onion is braised (Goldern brown) - Add chicken with:
    Ginger garlic and red masala
    Braise for a while and then add:
    salt, turmeric, coarse jeero and water
    Leave chicken to cook for 10-15 mins

    Now add Suhana chilli powder, fine coriander powder, tomatoes liquidized. Let cook till done

  3. 3

    Add potatoes cut into quarters, fresh coriander and 2 whole green chillies.

  4. 4

    Rice: Add 4.5 cups water with 2 cups rice. Put in 2 tsp salt and 1 tsp turmeric powder. Cook for 5 minutes until water comes to a boil.

  5. 5

    Place in oven at 150-170 degrees for 40-45 minutes only.

    Serve with diced cucumber, tomatoes, onions and chilli and a glass of sparkling lemonade. Enjoy❤️
