Ingredients

30 minutes
4 servings
  • for kofta :-
  • 2 cupsgrated cabbage
  • 4-5 tbspgram flour
  • 1/4 tspfennel seeds
  • 1/4 tspcarom seeds
  • 1/2 tspgrated ginger
  • 1 pinchasafoetida
  • 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  • 2 pinchesturmeric powder
  • 1green chilli finely chopped
  • 1 tbspchopped coriander leaves
  • to tasteSalt
  • Forgravy:
  • 2tomatoes roughly chopped
  • 1green chilli roughly chopped
  • 1small piece of ginger
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 1 pinchasafoetida
  • 1bay leaf
  • 1small stick cinnamon
  • 2cloves
  • 1 tspgrated ginger
  • 1 tspkasuri methi
  • 2 tspcoriander powder
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspkashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 2-3 tbspfresh whisked yoghurt
  • 1/2 tspgaram masala powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • 2 tbspoil for making curry
  • as requiredOil to deep fry the koftas

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Firstly, mix all the ingredients of making koftas in a mixing bowl.

    Make lemon sized balls.

    Now heat oil in a wok and deep fry these balls on low medium flame till they are golden brown. Bring them out on a kitchen napkin and keep aside.

    Now add tomatoes, ginger and green chilli in a mixer jar. Blend it into a smooth paste. Keep aside.

    Heat oil in a wok on low medium flame.

    Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, asafoetida and kasuri methi. Saute for few seconds.

    Now add in the tomato paste and cook till the masala starts leaving oil.

    Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and kashmiri red chilli powder. Saute for 1 minute.

    Now add in the whisked yoghurt, give it a quick mix.

    Add 1 1/2 cups water along with garam masala powder and salt.

    Cook the gravy for few minutes and add the fried koftas. Further cook for just one minute and switch off the flame.

    Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with chapatis and rice.
