Shrimp Phyllo Pouches Shrimp Phyllo Pouches
I had some leftover cooked shrimp and a few sheets of phyllo dough in the fridge, and I started thinking about what I could make with these ingredients. I decided to make some fried pouches as an appetizer or tapa. They’re delicious and fun to make—perfect for a special occasion, now that we’re starting to gather with family and friends. This is my suggestion, but you can use any ingredients you have on hand—even empanada wrappers, puff pastry, or pie crust. It’s all about being creative in the kitchen! Hope you enjoy it! Buttermilk White Bread Buttermilk White Bread
My husband is bread lover. And in this situation of self quarantine #stayhome because of the Covid-19 spreading everywhere, we won’t take a chance to go to grocery or bakery just to get the bread. So this is my 1st time of making bread ever. At first I feel nervous because I am going to use buttermilk powder instead of buttermilk. Long short story before the city’s lockdown we couldn’t find any buttermilk or milk at the store. Luckily we got dry cultured buttermilk powder. We just grabbed and brought it home. At that moment we just think “we rather have it and not need it than need it but don’t have it”. So now I have to think how to use it and to not waste it. And here’s I present my homemade buttermilk bread from my kitchen using cultured buttermilk powder. Nia Hiura -
Cornbread Mix Cornbread Mix
Have you ever seen a recipe that called for something you never heard of, or cannot get. Here is one that is sometimes hard to find and isn't as popular as it used to be. As folks come to your area old things can get lost and new things introduced. As generations pass so does some of the old ways of cooking, " new and improved" ways. The more impossible substitute, and genetically modified organisms we put into our bodies the more modified organisms we become. We are what we eat. We have to eat. As long as I still have a choice I want to enjoy what I eat. I want to eat my comfort food I remember eating long ago. skunkmonkey101 -
Homemade & Easy Authentic Cronuts Homemade & Easy Authentic Cronuts
Cronuts are really trendy right now. I discovered a recipe that doesn't require you to fold in a block of butter as you do with croissants that was easy too, so I thought I'd try it out. These are made with a cream filling, or cut in half horizontally and combined with chocolate and so on, depending on the store.I used all-purpose flour here, but you use whatever flour you have on hand.Optionally decorate the cronuts with chocolate or cinnamon sugar. They remain crispy when cold, but they are rather dense inside, so I highly recommend eating them when freshly fried. I asked my Turkish friend what was in lavash, a sort of Turkish tortilla, and made them my way. Wrap some meat, vegetables, cheese, or any other ingredients in them, and enjoy! The most important part is the cooking time. Keep in mind that you need to cook them for a short time at a high temperature. Once they start to puff up, they are cooked through. This is a recipe using a skillet →For 6 pieces. Chocolate Chip Challah Bread Chocolate Chip Challah Bread
Like with most bread doughs, this takes a long time to make. Allow for 5 hours of prep time. *Added* In hindsight, I would have added more chocolate chips. As the bread bakes, the volume doubles, and you really can't have a high enough chocolate chip per bite ratio. pow.shopow -
Springy Homemade Udon Noodles Springy Homemade Udon Noodles
Homemade udon noodles are awesome! It may seem like there is too much salt, but when they are boiled most of it will be washed off, so there's no need to worry about it.If you slice the noodles to match the thickness you want after they have been boiled, they won't come out nice. They'll become sticky like dumplings and they will fall apart.Slice to 3-4 mm thick.Since the noodles firm up quite a bit when cooled, it doesn't really work if you try to test the hardness while they are hot.
