Ingredients

20 min
  1. 200 gramswarm hazelnuts
  2. 100 gramsbrown sugar
  3. 50 mlcanola oil
  4. 60 gramsdark chocolate or more 😉

Cooking Instructions

20 min
  1. 1

Turn oven on 180 on fan and place the hazelnuts inside a loaf pan to warm them up. This will help the hazelnuts release their beautiful and delicious natural oils. Cook inside the oven for 15 min.

  2. 2

Now in a nonstick pan, place slowly a bit of the sugar, and let it melt. The minute you see it caramelised remove from the heat for 5 seconds, add more sugar and then place the pan back on the stove/fire. Do that until you use all your sugar and have caramelised it. Check photos for help, it should look like second photo, careful to not burn it.

  3. 3

In a flat dish, place baking paper. Then in the same pan with the melted caramel, place all hazelnuts and make sure the caramel goes to all hazelnuts. Then place on the baking paper and let it cool. This will be very hard like a brittle! Once the brittle comes together break it with the back of a spatula.

  4. 4

Place the brittle, in a high speed mixer/blender. Add canola oil and blend until it comes to a runny consistency.

  5. 5

Add the chocolate of your choice, the more chocolate you add the more chocolate-y it will be! Use dark, milky or whatever you want. The hazelnut spread you just made will be warm so blend some more to help chocolate melt and become one with the hazelnut mixture.

  6. 6

This is how it looks in the end! Keep outside and add on top of your ice cream (it will Instantly become hard like what they serve at ice cream shops and my main photo above) or place in the fridge for an easier spread for your bread. Enjoy!
