Chicken Haleem

As Ashura is here and everyone is making something special, I also thought to make Haleem and kheer. As it was off and everyone is fasting. This recipe is very easy and made with regular spices. It’s just a trick that you should give it time to cook properly for all the flavours to enhance.

As Ashura is here and everyone is making something special, I also thought to make Haleem and kheer. As it was off and everyone is fasting. This recipe is very easy and made with regular spices. It’s just a trick that you should give it time to cook properly for all the flavours to enhance.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Thoroughly wash and soak all the lentils and oats for overnight
- 2
In a big pot, bring water to boil and add all the lentils and oats in it. Let it cook on medium flame till everything is cooked properly. Add 1 tsp turmeric powder and salt to taste.
- 3
Brown the onions for garnish and keep aside. To the same oil, add the chicken pieces and cook till the colour changes.
- 4
Add the spices and ginger garlic paste to it. Mix well and cook till the oil comes up.
- 5
Meanwhile the lentils are cooking. Use wooden hand beater to mix and mash them. This step helps the tastes to enhance.
- 6
Take out the chicken pieces and let them cool. Shred them and add to the lentil mixture. Mix well and let it cook for a while.
- 7
Now you can use an electric blender and blend the mixture for a nice texture.
- 8
Add the leftover gravy and oil of the qourma to enhance the flavour.
- 9
In the end cut the ginger, green chillies, mint and lemon for garnish.
Serve hot with naan and enjoy.

Mutton Haleem Mutton Haleem
#Post14 - This is a very popular Hyderabadi dish during the holy month of Ramadan. It can be prepared with either mutton or chicken. But now a days, you come across vegetarian haleem too. Traditionally it is slow cooked for many hours on an open flame. But I tried the simplest method - Pressure cooking method. It is quite a rich dish with loads of dry fruits and ghee, but it is equally nutritious as it contains various types of lentils and oats (traditionally wheat is used). This delicacy is served with a dash of lime, fried onions, chopped coriander-mint leaves and dry fruits. #goldenapron Bethica Das -

Haleem from Rib Roast Haleem from Rib Roast
During the Holidays time, lots of families are cooking Rib Roast of Beef. Rib Roast is quite expensive. Usually a Rib Roast of 8 Ribs (with Bones) could cost about $180 to $200.00 It does make a great meal for 10-12 people. The Butcher will always trim the fat and seperate the Bones but Tie it together with the roast for Flavor. When your roast is done, you would normally carve the roast and serve your guest and keep the Bones for later soups and stews. I have made this recipe for Haleem from the Ribs Bones and the meat around the bones. ChefLuciano@lucianoretired -
