I love making my own style of Asian dishes. Roast pork is a family favorite so I adapted my own at home version of the marinade to use for it. This marinade can be used in chicken like I did today or more traditionally with boneless pork ribs or pork loin. It's such a warm, sweet, hot sauce. Just delicious.

Ingredients

12 hours
6 servings
  1. 1/4 cuphoison
  2. 2 tablespoonsoyster sauce
  3. 2 tablespoonshoney
  4. 1/4 cupmirin
  5. 1/4 cupsoy sauce
  6. 1/2 cupbeet juice
  7. 1/8 teaspoonsalt
  8. 1 teaspoongarlic powder
  9. 2 tablespoonsbrown sugar
  10. 1/2 teaspooncinnamon
  11. 1 teaspoonground ginger
  12. 1 1/2 teaspooncayenne pepper

Cooking Instructions

12 hours
  1. 1

Add all of marinade ingredients into a bowl

  2. 2

In a large zipper bag place the desired meat you use. Add in the marinade and zip it tight.

  3. 3

I place bag either in a bowl or on a baking tray. If it leaks you don't have to worry about the red beet color staining anything in your kitchen.

  4. 4

Marinate for at least 6 hours. Over night is best. Turn bag from time to time to make sure it is marinating meat evenly.

  5. 5

For my chicken thighs, I baked them on a rack for 45 minutes or until cooked through.

  6. 6

A quick clean up tip is line your baking dish with aluminium foil. It prevents the sugars from burning into your baking dish.

  7. 7

Grilling these over a low heat bbq is the BEST!

  8. 8

Take the marinade a place it in a stock pot. Bring to a boil and low boil for 3 minutes. Now you have the perfect dipping sauce.

Looks absolutely amazing! Definitely going to try it with chicken — I really like the idea of adding beet juice. Thanks for the recipe!
