Bengali Mulor Dal / Radish Dal

Dal plays a vital role in Bengali cuisine and consumed on daily basis in variety ways.
As Radish is a winter produce and available in abundance, Bengalis’ combine both Radish and Dal and the outcome is a flavourful Dal …… it is Mulor Dal or Arhar Radish Dal which is a winter special Dal.

Bengali Mulor Dal / Radish Dal

As Radish is a winter produce and available in abundance, Bengalis’ combine both Radish and Dal and the outcome is a flavourful Dal …… it is Mulor Dal or Arhar Radish Dal which is a winter special Dal.

Cooking Instructions

Soak Daal overnight, slice medium size radish.

Pressure cook Dal with sufficient water and give 5-6 whistle but don’t overcook.
Boil radish slices by adding slight salt and boil till they turn soft and keep aside. - 3
In moderately heated pan, add oil, add onion seeds + dry red chilli and allow to crackle, then add boiled Daal along with water, add green chilli + turmeric powder + salt as required and give a good mix. Give 4-5 times nice rolling boil.

Add boiled radish slices + chopped coriander and cook for 4-5 minutes and Daal is ready.
Serve with rice. - 5
