  1. 3 cupflour
  2. 1/4 cupsugar
  3. 4 tspbaking powder
  4. 1/2 tspcream of tarter
  5. 3/4 tspsalt
  6. 1/2 cupshortening or oil
  7. 1egg
  8. 1 1/4 cupmilk

    Preheat oven to 475

    Combine dry ingredients.

    cut in shortening until mix is crumbly

  4. 4

    add all other ingredients

  5. 5

    mix until dough forms ball

  6. 6

    knead dough on floured surface about 10-12 times

  7. 7

    roll out dough to about 3/4 inch thick and cut with 2 1/2 inch cutter

  8. 8

    place on ungreased pan cook for 12 to 15 minutes

I've tried a lot of biscuit recipes and this one is the best. Didn't have enough shortening so used butter. Also baked them at 450º for 14 minutes. They were great. Hint: if you place the biscuits with sides touching, they will rise higher.
