Pepper Steak

I remember the first time I tasted Pepper Steak. A lifelong friend of mine was house sitting for one of our neighbors. She promised to cook me dinner if I came over to keep her company. She made Pepper Steak. I thought I had died and went to heaven. It was soooo good! That was about 35 years ago. :-)

Cooking Instructions
- 1
In large skillet, brown flour coated beef strips.
- 2
Add onions and garlic to beef strips and saute.
- 3
Add tomatoes in their juice and beef broth to skillet.
- 4
Add worchestershire sauce.

Add bell pepper strips and simmer until peppers are done to your liking. I like them cooked through but still holding their shape.

If you’re craving a quick and delicious stir-fry, this Pepper Steak is just what you need! Juicy, tender beef, colorful peppers, and a rich, savory sauce come together in no time. The marinade keeps the beef extra flavorful, and the black pepper gives it just the right kick. It’s super easy to make and perfect over a bowl of rice or noodles. Once you try it, you’ll want to make it again and again! Dandanyummyfood -

What's your earliest favourite food memory? Mine is pepper steak, specifically the old Chun King brand pepper steak. The stuff available now is basically a seasoning packet. Back in my day, Chun King came in a can, and already included everything (except for the beef, maybe, I'm not sure). Kind of like Campbell chunky soup. Anyway, I was crazy for the stuff, and hopped for joy whenever my mom pulled a can out for dinner. This recipe is my homage to that memory. I can't say for certain how close it is, because honestly I only vaguely remember how the stuff tasted. I mainly remember how much I loved it. The best part about this recreation was my daughter's reaction. She had three servings. So our family's love for pepper steak will live on. Robert Gonzal -

I've been looking at several different recipes for this dish and decided to create my own. I used the hot pepper jelly and sriracha to reinforce the pepper flavors. Then kicked it up a bit by using the smoked spices as well. supernanny -
