What's Cooking? March 2019

*IF YOU'RE NEW TO WHAT'S COOKING, PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST INCLUDING STEPS SECTION :)*
Happy March, everyone!
Hard to believe we're already into a new month. Time flies, doesn't it?
WHAT'S COOKING is our ongoing monthly discussion where we can swap ideas, ask questions, share Cookpad recipes, and just generally celebrate and commiserate over the triumphs and trials of home cooking.
Since we're in the month of March, I'm guessing we'll be talking St. Patrick's Day recipes, among other things. And since we here in So Cal continue to have an extra wet winter, I think I'll be looking for more soup recipes. :D
As for the Cookpad kitchen, be on the lookout for a new thing called Cookalongs. I think we're going to have fun with this. Looking forward to sharing the details with you soon!
Hope you're having a lovely weekend. Can't wait to see what you've got cooking. :)

Happy New Year, everyone! What’s cooking? Happy New Year, everyone! What’s cooking?
Hi, everyone!Another year of delicious memories behind us already! Looking forward to all of us sharing and creating more kitchen connection together in the year the come. This NYE, we’re potlucking and hanging at a friends’ ranch. My contribution’s pretty easy - oysters on the half shell and Rockefeller style. Lots of shucking and not much cooking for me today. 😬 Sometimes it’s really nice when everyone shares the work.I’ll be posting my Rockefeller recipe later after I have a chance to take pics.I hope you'll share your favorite NYE recipes with our community so we'll all have lots of delicious ideas to work with.Looking forward to seeing what you've got cooking today!Just a reminder of our guidelines if you're not familiar:https://cookpad.wasmer.app/us/communityHappy New Year!!!! 😊❤️ShinaeYour friendly neighborhood CM x -
Soup, December 2019 Soup, December 2019
Reason for making this soup. It poured rain all night, rainy day. It came a cold front, comfort food on a cold wet day. I was hungry for some good meaty soup, satisfying a craving. Thus the soup was made!!! skunkmonkey101 -
California Farm Cookpad Planning California Farm Cookpad Planning
People get $9 per person per day here in California from the Calfresh program for food, and cooksnap readers can eat and drink better with that plan than people who have to spend their allowance on prepared foods and drinks because they dont have kitchens.Starting with the first payment of $800 per person every 3 months, this recipe plan allows you to add the staples you need, then the foods you enjoy, then any foods published in my recipes in here. I always post the cost of the recipe ingredients and the cost per person. The one thing you need to get started is a hand food grinder, under $50, the first thing you do next is to save by buying twice as many staples as you need: wheat, rice, corn, beans, flour, lentils, potatoes, carrots. Should you run out of things, or eat more than anticipated, you wont go hungry.I have posted a menu of recipes in here from people from Nicoya who live over 100 years eating this diet. The cost of these ingredients is well below the daily allowance of the Calfresh program, but you need a small garden plot. Hobby Horseman -

Alphabet Soup#mycookbook Alphabet Soup#mycookbook
Alphabet soup reminds me of my granny. She used to make this soup for me and my cousins whenever we visited her on holidays. This soup works best for me and my family when we’re down with the cold flu. 🤪 #mycookbook Rae -
Cod Cooked in Foil Cod Cooked in Foil
This is a standard recipe at our house. There's also "Steamed Cod in a Microwave", which is even easier. You can use fresh cod as is, but if using salted cod, soak in water to remove the salt before use. If the foil packets look like they're about to burst while cooking, turn of the heat and let them sit covered for a few minutes before serving. I sliced the carrots in the photo into rounds, then cut out heart shapes with a cutter. I recommend using white wine instead of sake. Recipe by Menayo cookpad.japan -

This is a great recipe to start introducing Instant pot cooking with older children and teens. My teen son actually made this. This is just and easy recipe all around. A good beginner recipe to someone new to pressure cooking. This was made in the ninja foodie. If your making this in the ninja you can air crisp /bake the last step with the cheese. #mycookbook 🌈NinjaMommaKitchen🌈 -
