Ingredients

  1. For Making Puree
  2. 2 tbspOil
  3. 1Medium Sized Onion (Roughly Chopped)
  4. 1 1/2 tspGinger Garlic Paste
  5. 2Medium Sized Tomatoes (Roughly Chopped)
  6. to tasteSalt
  7. 4Green Chillies (Chopped)
  8. For Gravy
  9. 2 tbspOil
  10. 1 1/2 tspCumin Seeds
  11. 1 1/2 tspRed Chilli Powder
  12. 2 tspCoriander Powder
  13. 1/2 tspTurmeric Powder
  14. 200 gmsPaneer
  15. 200 gmsPeas
  16. 1 CupWater
  17. 1 tspGaram Masala
  18. 2 tspCoriander Leaves (Chopped)

Cooking Instructions

    Heat oil and add chopped onion. Saute till the onions are translucent. Then add ginger garlic paste. Mix it and add the chopped tomatoes and salt.

    Add chopped green chillies. It helps to make the dish spicy. Cover and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until tomatoes are soft. Switch off the flame. Allow it to cool.

    Once it cools down, add it to a blender and blend it into a puree. Keep the blended puree aside.

    Heat oil in a kadai. I made it in a clay pot. Add cumin seeds. Allow it to sizzle for few seconds. To it, add red chilli powder.

    Quickly add in the blended puree. Mix well and saute it for a minute.

    Add coriander powder and turmeric powder. Cover and cook for 2 to 3 minutes so that the spices cook alongwith the puree.

    Open lid and cook on medium flame stirring continuously till orange color changes into red color and liquid reduces to half its quantity. Saute till oil leaves from the masala.

    Add the peas and mix it. Add water and mix well. Water is added so that the peas get cooked.

    Cover and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame and until oil appears at the surface. Add the paneer and cover and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

    Add garam masala.

    Lastly, add the chopped coriander leaves. Mix it well and cook for another minute or two on medium flame till oil appears at the surface. Switch off the flame. Keep covered for few minutes for the flavor to get absorbed in the gravy.

    Delicious Matar Paneer is ready.

    Enjoy it with roti, paratha, naan, poori, rice etc. It taste good with anything.
