Chapatis are a staple diet of maharashtrians. And layered chapatis or telachi chapati is one of the comfort foods in villages as well as cities. Even today my family relishes this simple and delicious breakfast with the morning cup of tea.
These chapatis if followed as per instructions will stay soft even the next day.

Ingredients

20 minutes
  1. 2 cupswhole wheat flour
  2. as per taste Salt
  3. As neededWarm Water for kneading dough
  4. as neededOil
  5. as required Dry flour

Cooking Instructions

20 minutes
  1. 1

Mix salt in to flour. Add water little by little to form a medium soft dough. Rest the dough for 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Make equal lemon size balls.
Take one dough ball and roll in to a size of puri. Apply few drops of oil and sprinkle some dry flour.

  3. 3

Fold it again and you will get a triangle shape like this.now dust some dry flour around the triangle dough and roll the chapati using a rolling pin. Do not apply too much pressure. Keep rolling the edges and then the centre.

  4. 4

Heat a tawa(I am using my old fashioned aluminum tawa)
Place the chapati and wait for some bubbles to arrive. Flip and wait again. As soon as the chapati starts to bubble up, apply few drops of oil all over and flip again. Apply few drops of oil on the other side and take the chapati out of the tawa.
Fold into a triangle and place on to a casserole so that the chapatis stay warm and soft.

  5. 5

When you divide the chapati into two pieces and open up you will see 3 or 4 layers of the chapatis.
Thay is a sign of perfect Chapati.
Enjoy with a hot cup of tea and enjoy your morning breakfast
