Cooking the string beans in boiling water with baking soda, and cooling them in ice water, will help the string beans to have a bright green color.
Cooking Instructions

Heat up some water in a cooking pot. Bring the liquid to a boil. Add the baking soda and string beans. Do not overcook the string beans. Drain and cool off the string beans with cold water mixed with ice. This way the string beans will have a nice green color.

Heat up a frying pan with the olive oil and sauté the sliced almonds to obtain a golden color.

Add butter and string beans, heat it up. Season it with salt and pepper, serve immediately.
