Mock Shiruko! With Kidney Beans Mock Shiruko! With Kidney Beans
I had some shiratamako anyway so I decided to make some instant shiruko out of kidney beans to go with it.Making anko from adzuki beans usually takes around a day so the flavour of this shiruko is a bit different. But on the other hand it has a less characteristic flavor that may be easier for shiruko novices to enjoy. This is mock shiruko so I only added a little bit of sugar.I blended my kidney beans in the food processor until they were still a little lumpy. Spicy Beef Mince and Bean Stew with Tomatoes Spicy Beef Mince and Bean Stew with Tomatoes
I use curry powder, so the resultant dish is not going to be very hot. I don't use consomme cubes and season with salt. You can use consomme cubes if you prefer. This dish has a rich flavour because the vegetables and curry powder are fried slowly. By frying the curry powder before stewing it gives a good flavour to the dish.If you use dried beans, use the cooking liquid at Step 6 instead of water to give extra flavour to the dish. Smoked BBQ Beans Smoked BBQ Beans
Perfect for your summer cookout! I’ve always made these beans in either the oven or slow cooker. But yesterday I was already cooking on the smoker so I figured...why not?! And man am I happy I did! It will be hard to make these beans without a smoker from this point on! (Note: Don't assume this is a spicy recipe because of the jalapeños. It is all about the flavor! It actually has very little spiciness at all!) #mycookbook Boca de Fogo
