Caramel Custard Pudding

Cooking Instructions

First, put 5 tablespoons of sugar in a pan over the stove and stir continuously to caramelize the sugar. Slice the almonds into flakes.

Next, pour the caramelized sugar into a dish, add the almond flakes, and spread the caramel syrup evenly.

Take a bowl and mix half a bowl of milk with the custard powder. In another bowl, mix the flour with some milk. Combine both mixtures and set aside.

In a separate bowl, bring the milk to a boil over the stove.

Once the milk is boiling, slowly add both mixtures while stirring continuously. Keep the flame low to prevent burning. Once the mixture thickens, turn off the heat.

Pour the prepared mixture into the dish with the caramelized sugar and smooth it out evenly.

To steam, place a pan with 1 glass of water on the stove and steam for 25 to 30 minutes.

Let it cool completely. Use a knife to loosen the edges, then invert to remove.

Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour before serving.

I wanted to make a caramel flavoured custard for cakes. If you mix this cream with whipped cream, it will be vary tasty. "Urufuwan's"is cooked with just with plain flour and butter, so you could adjust the flavors later. You could use it for cooking or baking like this.This is a light custard. If you prefer it richer, replace some of the milk for heavy cream, or add 2 egg yolks.If you want to use this for filling buns, this may taste bland. Cook the caramel for longer and increase the amount of sugar. This cream is still quite runny after its cooled. If you want a stiffer custard, add more white sauce roux or decrease the amount of milk to find the thickness you like. Recipe by SALASA cookpad.japan
