Home made Ketchup

Fresh, plum and red tomatoes are in season and they are quite cheap. So I thought to myself " life is giving you fresh tomatoes, why not make ketchup out of them". Home made is always best as you have full control of what goes in. No preservatives, no additives and no artificial colours. This ketchup is perfect for fries, burgers, chops and even as a pizza sauce😋

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Wash tomatoes and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel. Dice the tomatoes, transfer to a pot, add water.
- 2
Cook for about 10- 15 minutes and allow to cool. Transfer to a blender and blend until smooth. Sieve with a mesh sieve to remove the seeds.
- 3
Transfer the puree to pan on moderate heat. Bring to a boil, add sugar.
- 4
Add white vinegar, chilli, onion powder, garlic powder
- 5
Add salt to taste
- 6
Cook for between 15-20 minutes until thick. To check if ketchup is ready, put a few drops on a plate and tilt. If not runny, then ketchup is ready. I got 450g Ketchup from 1kg tomatoes💃
- 7
You can season ketchup with cumin, all spice, cinnamon and mustard powder.
- 8
If using fresh onion and garlic, cook with the tomatoes at the initial stage.

Homemade Additive-Free Fresh Ketchup Homemade Additive-Free Fresh Ketchup
We have a lot of great tasting tomatoes from Kumamoto and Kochi Prefectures at home which we usually make into oven-dried tomatoes or ketchup. This ketchup contains plenty of nutrients so try opening them up a jar in the winter when vegetables are hard to come by.The sweetness of this ketchup will vary depending on the sugar content of the tomatoes so please adjust the amounts of vinegar and sugar accordingly. If you prefer a chunkier ketchup then you don't have to blend the ingredients. Preservative Free! Homemade Ketchup Preservative Free! Homemade Ketchup
We live on a farm so we have lots of tomatoes. This ketchup is one way we use them up. Homemade ketchup has no preservatives, so you can give it to small children without worry. Serve homemade ketchup with your everyday meals to bring smiles to the dinner table.By blitzing it in a blender and then separating it, you can cut down on the time needed to evaporate the liquid. The liquid can by strained (optional) and used in many ways, so it's a waste to evaporate it! Recipe by lecker cookpad.japan -
Cebu-Style Chicken Skewers with Vinegared Marinade Cebu-Style Chicken Skewers with Vinegared Marinade
This is a great barbecue marinade that's popular in Cebu. You're supposed to use something called banana ketchup, but that's a bit difficult, so I used tomato ketchup in my own version. If you cook it to just before burning, you'll get an authentic taste.*I love the sour taste so I'm using a lot of vinegar. If you aren't quite as big a fan as I am, please adjust the amount of vinegar to your taste (adding bit by bit). For 3-4 servings. Recipe by Nooko cookpad.japan -

How to Make Red Pickled Ginger How to Make Red Pickled Ginger
I love red pickled ginger, but I worry about the food coloring and additives in the store-bought type. It's also a shame to toss out the plum vinegar from making umeboshi. Simplifying the salting and drying process, I was able to produce a delicious red pickled ginger. There's nothing much to it. All of the amounts are approximate.Just a light sprinkle of salt and enough plum vinegar to cover the ginger. As a rule of thumb, the amount of salt should be 4% the amount of ginger, so you can approximate with the proportion of 100 g ginger to 4 g salt.
