Belgian pear and cranberry compote

I scored some cheap fresh cranberries add the supermarket yesterday they where 1 + 2 for free. I did not know what to do with them. I found this recipy on a Belgian promotion side for pears! One of our export products.

Ingredients

1.2 l
  1. 500 grfresh or frozen cranberry
  2. 500 grpears (2 big doyenne)
  3. 1small orange
  4. 1clementine
  5. 450 grjam sugar
  6. 2cloves
  7. 1 stickcinnamon
  8. 3crushed pods cardemon
  9. Water

Cooking Instructions

    Get the peel of half an orange and half a clementine

  2. 2

    Juice the orange and clementine. Add water to it until you get 300 ml

  3. 3

    Put it in a pot with tick bottom together with the spices,peel, sugar and cranberries

    Peel and chop the pears into small bits

  5. 5

    Put in the mixture when boiling

  6. 6

    Simmer just beyond boiling for 10 min. Cruch with a potato crucher (do not use a mixer)

    Put into 3 400ml sterilised pots or 2 smaller and 2 bigger pots like I did.

    Store.
    Use later. They need 2 weeks to be at their best they keep for at least 3 months.

    Nice as a side dish for gammon or turkey. On bread or with a cheese platter
