White Cake

This white cake is our favorite for dressing up (or down) with frosting or without. I’ve been known to mix up a lemon drizzle for a lil bit’o variety. Our grandgirl loves to decorate it. This one is “spooka-ly eyed”.

Cooking Instructions

Stir flour, sugar & crisco together,add milk & flavoring. Beat 2 minutes. Scraping bowl frequently.

Add egg whites (use whole eggs for yellow cake), (I like to whip eggs a tad before adding to batter)& continue beating 2 minutes, scraping bowl frequently. Batter will be thin.

Bake in greased & floured pans of choice at 350*F for 30-35 minutes.

Let cool in pan, 30 minutes before removing.

Let cake rest on cooling rack until completely cooled.

Frost with favorite frosting, icing or leave it plain.

I made this cake imagining a cake which was made in a cartoon on Valentine. If you know what I am talking about, please give it a try.The amount of sugar for the pound cake is for the cake to be slightly sweetened. Adjust the amount to your liking If you make a cut in the dough before baking the cake, the cake would be baked nicely. I wanted to make a refreshing cake with citrus fruits. This is like a variation of the Orange Yogurt Pound Cake recipe (ID:566906), but I decorated it so it could also be used as a eyecatching gift.Since the whole orange including the peel is used, it's best to use chemical-free oranges. Leaving the orange syrup overnight will elminate any bitterness from the orange peel. If you use a cake tin with a removable bottom and line the bottom wiith baking paper it will be really easy to take the cake out. This recipe uses the icing as a glaze. Recipe by nin cookpad.japan
